Let's Talk Baby about teaching babies to read!
Hello! My name is Joe Pierron and I am 51 years old. I have a baby boy named Jacob that was born in December 2009. During my wife's pregnancy my 28 year old daughter gave me a book written my Glenn Doman. The book is about How to Teach Your Baby to Read. I read this book and was fascinated with what has been done with babies before they reach five years of age.
I am convinced that parents who teach their children to read as infants and toddlers will have better developed children than if they didn't teach them to read by the age of 5, and relied on the school system to do so. I am not knocking the school system because there are many great teachers out there. Teachers are people like you and me. In most teaching positions the curriculum is set and there is not much room for deviation. Besides, the school system usually begins teaching the child at age 6 or 7. The brain is just about fully developed regarding the capacity to take in things in a certain way. I don't claim to be an expert and don't want to resort to quoting research facts, although I'm sure some will be beneficial to the reader. I am merely presenting information that may help parents have children that are better equipped and have more opportunities in life from the foundation their parents helped start.
I am beginning this page on October 27, 2010. My ten month old son, Jacob, can crawl, stand for a few seconds, and talk. His talking is baby language, of course. But when he starts uttering sentences that can be comprehended by the observers, you can be sure there will be video posted to show it. Once this and other things occur, it is a goal of mine to help other parents teach their babies to read. The way parents do this is entirely up to them. The school that teaches children the methods we use on our son is in Pennsylvania. It is a non-profit organization. I asked a representative if there were any plans to open another school in the United States, say Georgia. There are currently no plans for that. So, as time goes on, check this page for updated information and videos. If things progress well, I will be involved in helping teach parents to teach their children to read, do math, learn encyclopedia knowledge and more.
It is May 2011 and Jacob is progressing well. He is being given choices on many things and is almost always correct.
